About Course

Course Objective
This training provides employees with the knowledge necessary to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and comply with OSHA regulations.
Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms present in human blood that can cause disease in humans.
The most common bloodborne pathogens include:
  • Hepatitis B (HBV)
  • Hepatitis C (HCV)
  • Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
These pathogens are transmitted through contact with infected blood or certain body fluids.
Healthcare workers and DME staff may be exposed when:
  • Handling contaminated equipment
  • Cleaning medical supplies
  • Assisting patients with medical devices
  • Handling sharps or contaminated waste
